    LOS ANGELES, CA – January 24, 2013 – Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Journey Through Advertising, the second installment of TRK’s short film series, a presentation of thought-provoking, stylish and humorous ads from France and beyond, on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 7:30pm.  The presentation features a selection of advertisements, in French, English, and Spanish (with subtitles in English as needed), including shockvertisements, prevention ads, advertisements related to the environment, spots on junk consumption, as well as ads which fuel the obsession for a perfect body.  Complimentary wine and cheese will be served at intermission.  Adult tickets cost $15, with student tickets $10, available at https://www.vendini.com/ticket-software.html?m=241d6077b39728479d58e072170e1c6f&t=tix.  The program is not suitable for children under the age of 12.  This event is made possible by La Maison de la Pub and the Film and TV Office of the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles.  Theatre Raymond Kabbaz at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles is located at 10361 W.     Journey Through Advertising
    Journey Through Advertising is a selection of old and new advertisements, in French, English and Spanish (with subtitles in English as needed), presented in two parts.  Material is sourced from the cinema, television, and the internet.  The first part of the program focuses on ads related to the environment, cigarettes, junk food, driving safety, alcohol, and cheese (which will be served with wine at intermission).   After the intermission, the second part of the presentation features spots related to nutrition, health, HIV/condoms, and French luxury goods.  Themes explored include shockvertising, prevention, censorship, and body image.

    La Maison de la Pub (The Advertisement House)–
    Based in Paris, La Maison de la Pub is a melting pot of ideas that explores memorabilia to better understand its impact on contemporary society.  With a collection of 400,000 advertising films, from commercials by the Lumière brothers (1897) to current ad campaigns, the organization presents material related to French and international advertising.  Its archives serve as a resource for scholars and creative organizations for broadcast, festivals and exhibition, in France as well as abroad.


    The Film and TV Office of the Consulate General of France, Los Angeles–

    The French Film and TV Office of the French Embassy in Los Angeles is the local representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Film Department.  Its purpose is to support and promote the French film and television industries on the West Coast, and to facilitate contacts between United States and French entertainment industry professionals.  Exercising activities in the fields of cinema, television, radio, and new technologies applied to these fields, the department specializes in supporting the release of French features and importing French programs to the United States.

    Theatre Raymond Kabbaz–

    Theatre Raymond Kabbaz is a non-profit institution dedicated to the promotion of art and culture in the West Los Angeles area.  This 220-seat theatre welcomes multidisciplinary and multicultural shows.  TRK’s mission is to be an open window on French and international cultures, as well as to inspire and sustain a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
