The Rachel Rosenthal Company (RRC) presents Instant Fairy Tales, a brand new series of original fairy tales for the 21st century at Espace DbD in Los Angeles. Instant Fairy Tales: The Longest Winter, the series’ inaugural offering, which features an allegorical tale about learning to care for the environment, will be held on Saturday, January 25, Sunday, January 26, Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 9, 2014. The performances, by Rachel Rosenthal Company’s TOHUBOHU! Extreme Theatre Ensemble, begin at 4:00pm and 7:00pm on Saturday, and 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Sunday. Angel City Chorale (ACC), Los Angeles’ most entertaining and spirited choir, kicks off the season this year with Joyful, Joyful, its 20th annual holiday concert and sing-along, taking place over two nights the first weekend of December on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Wilshire United Methodist Church. The 160-member Angel City Chorale will perform its unique mix of Christmas and Chanukah favorites, as well as original compositions, in the group’s eclectic combination of styles ranging from classical to pop, incorporating contemporary, world, and gospel beats. The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) is pleased to present sound. at 356 S. Mission Rd.: Aaron Dilloway / Jason Lescalleet / John Wiese. The first-ever Los Angeles performance of electro-acoustic duo Aaron Dilloway and Jason Lescalleet will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 8:00pm. Part of the SASSAS sound. series, the concert features two of the most respected American underground experimental/noise artists performing at 356 S. Mission Rd., a new venue created by renowned artist Laura Owens. San Francisco-based Jill Tracy‘s haunting “Evil Night Together,” from the album Diabolical Streak, was chosen by Showtime Networks as the requiem to promote the wildly anticipated eighth and final season of Dexter, which stars Michael C. Hall. The teaser, which airs through early July, is aptly titled “The Final Symphony,” and features a montage from the series’ past seven seasons to a soundtrack of Tracy’s chilling music. “It’s like I’m conducting a final symphony,” Dexter says, “Requiem for Demonic Dexter.” The final season of Dexter premieres on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 9:00pm on Showtime. Vox Femina Los Angeles continues its 16th season with Half the Sky: Voices of Women Worldwide, a choral concert celebrating the courage and compassion of women around the globe, on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood. The event features Vox Femina’s first installment of an exciting musical cycle, which explores culture and stories of women around the globe. Children from Creative Planet School of the Arts will dance on stage with Vox for “Beneath the African Sky,” a choral piece written by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory that was inspired by genocide survivor Clemantine Wamariya‘s childhood spent in African refugee camps. Bootleg Theater announces the world premiere of Death of a Salesgirl, an absurdist tragicomedy with integrated media, about one woman’s struggle to free herself from her past, opening in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 13, 2012 and running through Saturday, November 17, 2012. Written by Patricia Scanlon, Death of a Salesgirl is a dark and humorous parable of a salesgirl breaking in new territory. This intensely creative interdisciplinary performance piece, directed by Matthew McCray, incorporates video projections, animation and a uniquely crafted set by the award-winning Francois-Pierre Couture. Death of a Salesgirl stars Patricia Scanlon and Paul Dillon.

Vox Femina Los Angeles, the eclectic women’s choral ensemble, opens its 16th season with No Ordinary Women, a concert featuring the music of Joan Szymko and Gwyneth Walker on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Zipper Concert Hall in the Colburn School of Music. Vox Femina is thrilled to open its new season with works from these two extraordinary women composers, who have had a significant influence on the group.
