Give a Beat is proud to announce A Positive Spin: Remixed, the new California-based 501c3 non-profit organization’s global launch event in Downtown Los Angeles, on Saturday, October 24, 2015. The inspirational event starts with a daytime electronic music production/DJing workshop for youth from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Impact HUB LA. Scratch DJ Academy will provide gear and instructors for the workshop. The main event will follow, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, featuring performances by Joey McGuire of Afrolicious with the legendary Sandra Izsadore and Gato on percussion. Alex Simpson, the Associate Director of California Innocence Project, and exonerated football player Brian Banks will also make presentations. Moving to nearby Pattern Bar, A Positive Spin: Remixed will culminate with an after-party from 9:00pm to 2:00am, featuring DJ Garth, Wiseacre, and more.

Perfect Circuit Audio presents a FREE celebration of electronic music, Electric Sunset, on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the company’s new Burbank music gear retail store. The event will feature an eclectic line-up of Los Angeles-based electronic musicians who are known for pushing the boundaries of gear and technology in interesting ways, including Twin Braids, Side Brain, Kid606, M. Geddes Gengras, and John Tejada. DJ Turbotito will also spin between sets. First Congregational Church of Los Angeles is proud to present Christoph Bull’s organica, a FREE pipe organ concert on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:00pm. organica is an eclectic, colorful, and collaborative way to present the pipe organ to new audiences. A performer, scholar, and UCLA faculty member, Bull has been dubbed “the Tiger Woods of the organ.” He will perform his innovative interpretations of pieces by Philip Glass, Johann Sebastian Bach, Olivier Messiaen, Louis-Claude Daquin, and Maurice Ravel, as well as his own work, on the church’s famous pipe organ, the largest in the world located in a church. Overtone Industries is currently presenting The Spontaneous Combustion Choir World Tour of Los Angeles, a series of performances by the Spontaneous Combustion Choir for Los Angeles audiences, which started in January and runs into March 2015. In addition to performing, the choir will engage audiences in the collaborative creation of spontaneous music. The Spontaneous Combustion Choir is a catalyst for instant improvised chorale music. Conducted by O-Lan Jones, the group’s singing method builds harmonic chords, weaves melodies, and integrates rhythms, with singers who incorporate basic vowel sounds and no words; resulting in instant, cohesive, a cappella chorale music.

Bezerk Productions and Highways Performance Space present Melody of Chaos, an evening of free-spirited and psychologically intense visual and performing art, on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The event features the work of Linda Carmella Sibio, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1977 and is known for her cathartic performance and visual art that explores madness and creativity. The evening will start with an original new performance piece by Sibio, “Human-Pig Hybrid.” The work is a nonlinear exploration that juxtaposes cultural notions of “the pig” with mental illness. Directed by Steve Ison and John Scofield, Come Together features performances by ten of an estimated 8,000 international Beatles tribute bands keeping the legacy of The Fab Four alive around the world. Come Together was filmed primarily in and around Liverpool, the birthplace of The Beatles – including the world famous Cavern Club where they were discovered – during International Beatleweek, five decades after the band was formed in 1960.
