Electric Fairytale Recordings presents Stephen Emmer’s new album, International Blue, due out on July 8, 2014. The album pays tribute to the lost art and elegance of pop-crooning. As an accolade to this genre of elegance within the pop realm, International Blue injects a modern twist to the style with a myriad of contemporary sounds and beats, studio techniques, musical insights and lyrical meaning in ten new and original compositions. A celebration of the epic chamber music pop of Burt Bacharach, Scott Walker, Nick Cave and David Bowie, it features four of the great baritone singers in the UK today: Midge Ure (Ultravox), Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), Liam McKahey (Cousteau) and Neil Crossley (Furlined). The album was mixed and produced by the legendary Tony Visconti at Abbey Road Studios in London. Read the rest of this entry »

Angel City Chorale (ACC) will reunite with acclaimed Composer Christopher Tin at its upcoming spring concerts, Elements, on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Wilshire United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. Conducted by ACC Founder and Artistic Director Sue Fink, the first half of the concerts will feature selections that explore the four elements in a variety of musical styles including pop (Earth, Wind & Fire), classical (Brahms), as well as spirituals (“Ain’a That Good News”). The second half of the program features the West Coast Premiere of Tin’s new song cycle, The Drop that Contained the Sea, the much-anticipated follow-up to Tin’s Grammy Award-winning album, Calling All Dawns, which was hailed by critics as a masterpiece. Tin’s new classical/world music fusion work features stunning juxtapositions of rhythms and cultures. Songs depict global visions of water from the snows of Mongolia to the rains of Africa. Each of the 10 pieces is sung in a different language, including Proto-Indo-European, Turkish, and Xhosa. ACC also performed the West Coast premiere of Tin’s Calling All Dawns at its 20th Anniversary Concerts last spring. Read the rest of this entry »
