Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents Le Pot de Confiture (The Jam Jar), a puppet play featuring the mischievous character Guignol de Lyon on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 7:30pm. Le Pot de Confiture is the most performed play of Laurent Mourguet, who created the iconic Guignol character in 1808. Le Collectif Zonzons refreshes this classic with a modern approach to the traditional art of the hand puppet. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, and tickets are available here. Highways Performance Space and Moon Mile Run present the world premiere of Bang Bang, the newest addition to Michael Kearns’ compelling arsenal of theatrical work. Opening on Friday, April 10, 2015, Bang Bang is a character-driven play that examines societal “headline” contentions with intensity and passion. Inspired by the myriad responses to gun violence in America – from Sandy Hook to Ferguson – Bang Bang, directed by Mark Bringelson, weaves a battered, shredded tapestry from individual lives torn apart when a trigger is pulled.The six performances are on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday, April 10 to Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 8:30pm at Highways Performance Space. Los Angeles Performance Practice, in conjunction with Wilderness, will present the U.S. premiere of the immersive, site-specific physical theatre installation, The Day Shall Declare It, in Los Angeles opening Thursday, February 26, 2015 and running through Sunday, March 22, 2015. The critically acclaimed interdisciplinary piece weaves together dynamic movement with a collage of text inspired by American labor literature from a variety of iconic American authors including Tennessee Williams and Studs Terkel. Rising Phoenix Repertory, Weathervane Productions, and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater present the world premiere of Thieves, written by Charlotte Miller and directed by Daniel Talbott, at the Monroe Forum Theatre at the El Portal in North Hollywood. Thieves tells the story of a dysfunctional family in East Texas that descends into chaos when their matriarch dies. Performances begin Wednesday, March 18, 2015. The press opening is Friday, March 20, 2015 with the production running through Saturday, April 4, 2015.

For the sixth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2015. The program includes notable films from Belgium (3/16), Ivory Coast (3/17), Canada (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), Quebec (3/20), and France (3/21). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Monday’s opening night and Saturday’s closing night screenings are preceded by receptions at 7:00pm. A no host bar will be available Tuesday through Thursday. Friday’s event will feature a free beer tasting.

Fronted by two violin-wielding Jewish brothers, Eric and Olivier Slabiak, Paris-based sextet Les Yeux Noirs (The Black Eyes) offers up an infectious Gypsy-Klezmer-Yiddish meld of raucous music with plenty of jazzy flourishes to boot. Bootleg Theater will present the world premiere of Circles, the new play by Lisa Harris, opening in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, 2015 and running through Saturday, March 28, 2015. The work, directed by Andrew Heffernan, is an incendiary tango between the anima and animus. Featuring Harris and Blake Adams, Circles grapples with the fundamental mysteries of human connection. Harris is best known as the original producer of the OBIE Award-winning international hit, Mabou Mines DollHouse. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz is pleased to present 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a steampunk-inspired puppet theatre performance based on the classic 19th century Jules Verne science fiction novel by Portland-based Tears of Joy Theatre, on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. The story investigates a wave of mysterious sinkings encountered by the advanced submarine, the Nautilus, commanded by Captain Nemo.
