Coin & Ghost, LA’s theatrical home for remixed mythologies, will present its latest world premiere, Mama Mama Can’t You See, by Cecilia Fairchild and Stan Mayer. Opening on Friday, March 20, and running through Saturday, April 18, 2020, the new play explores a particularly harrowing moment of Mayer’s life as a U.S. Marine, and the implications of that moment across the boundaries of death, sex and love. Directed by Coin & Ghost’s Artistic Director,Zachary Reeve Davidson, the play is a metaphysical journey in which the experience of modern war becomes a shared identity among four Marines in Iraq and four sex workers from the American Civil War, who find themselves crossing paths in the space between life and death. The show will run for five weekends at New American Theatre in Hollywood.

The Attic Collective is bringing its unique blend of whimsy, clowning and magical realism to Los Angeles audiences this February with its production of I Decided I’m Fine: A Roach Play directed by Rosie Glen-Lambert. Written by The Attic Collective’s literary manager Veronica Tjioe and the company’s artistic director, Glen-Lambert, the play addresses hoarding, an American phenomenon, which is often stigmatized but rarely discussed. Opening on Friday, February 7th, the production will run for four weekends at Studio/Stage in the greater Hollywood area, closing on Sunday, March 1, 2020. I Decided I’m Fine: A Roach Play will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening.

The emerging theatre company’s new work—devised by the ensemble and directed by Rob Adler—is an irreverent, interactive, and inventive play that places Shakespeare’s masterpiece directly up against the many interpretations of it, whether accurate, misremembered, or re-invented entirely. Bad Hamlet will run from Thursday, July 25, through Saturday, August 24, 2019, at New American Theatre in Hollywood. LOS ANGELES, CA – Coin & Ghost in association with Vs. Theatre Company present the World premiere of Love Is Another Country, a radical reimagining of Sophocles’s Antigone at Vs. Theatre in Los Angeles from Friday, February 1 through Saturday, March 2, 2019. The third production of Coin & Ghost’s inaugural season, Love Is Another Country is a new play written by the prolific Bay Area theatre artist Lisa Marie Rollins and her first full-length work to be produced in Los Angeles. Directed by Kendall Johnson, the production brings together the ancient tale of Antigone with the deaths of innumerable black men and women at the hands of police. Part ritual, part rage, part collective ask to the audience, the play follows three women of the Chapman family as they navigate living as black women in a country that claims to love them. The Hammer Theatre presents BELLA GAIA – A Poetic Vision of Earth From Space for one night only on Friday, May 11, 2018 as part of the Hammer Theatre’s ArtTech series. BELLA GAIA is a renowned audiovisual experience lead by director-composer Kenji Williams and the BELLA GAIA Ensemble. The immersive event combines NASA satellite imagery, time-lapse nature photography, cultural heritage footage, and live performances of global beat music and dance to create an unprecedented and powerful exploration of the beauty and interconnectedness of all things on Earth. 501 (see three) ARTS and 24th STreet Theatre are thrilled to present the West Coast premiere of Pang! on Saturday, December 2 at 8:00pm and Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 3:00pm. Pang! – by Dan Froot and Company – is a triptych of adventurous live radio plays based on the oral histories of three American families hungering for change. The 90-minute production is being performed for theatre audiences in the three cities where the actual families live: Cedar Rapids, Iowa (10/20 & 10/21), Los Angeles, California at 24th STreet Theatre (12/2 & 12/3), and Miami, Florida (1/26 & 1/27/18). Pang! aims to raise awareness, decrease stigma, and promote cross-class dialogue around circumstances faced by families living below the poverty line.
