Said Who? Productions and Lina Hanson Media proudly announce the World Premiere of Mikael at the 3rd Duhok International Film Festival in Kurdistan, Iraq on September 11, 2015. The feature-length indie drama follows the story of 33-year-old office-worker Mikael, who travels to his war-torn ancestral home (Iraq) to pursue a lifelong dream of playing professional soccer, in an attempt to heal his soul. Directed, written, and starring Kordo Doski as Mikael, the personal and intimate 79-minute film draws on Doski’s own personal history as a promising young soccer player. The Duhok International Film Festival runs September 9-16, 2015.

For the sixth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2015. The program includes notable films from Belgium (3/16), Ivory Coast (3/17), Canada (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), Quebec (3/20), and France (3/21). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Monday’s opening night and Saturday’s closing night screenings are preceded by receptions at 7:00pm. A no host bar will be available Tuesday through Thursday. Friday’s event will feature a free beer tasting.

Laila Biali, the award-winning Canadian jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter, will bring her signature genre-bending, crowd-sourced concerts to six major cities in her first headlining U.S. tour in March 2014. Biali is known for taking the best of pop, rock, classical and soul, and informing it with her knowledge of jazz, as she weaves together exquisite musical arrangements. Biali’s tour, supported by The Canada Council for the Arts, will feature Adam Thomas on bass and Fred Kennedy on drums. The trio will be joined by guest artists at each stop.

Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, is pleased to present the World Kora Trio, a rare polycultural musical proposition rooted in western jazz traditions, on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The World Kora Trio, based in France, features American electric cellist Eric Longsworth, Malian kora player Chérif Soumano, and French singer-percussionist Jean-Luc Di Fraya. The group’s original jazz and folk compositions by Longsworth merge with the colors of African music, embodied by the kora. This will be the group’s U.S. debut; sponsored by Spedidam, Région Rhone Alpes, Fond de la Création Musicale, and The Canada Council for the Arts.

The performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, is pleased to present rock band Vadel on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 7:30pm. Featuring 20 year-old multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Adam Vadel, who live in Paris, the band will make its US debut fresh off of opening dates for Santana in Europe this past summer. With his band, composed of David Junior Assolo (bass), Virgile Carlsson (drums), and Jaykeyboards (keyboards), Vadel delivers powerful and straight forward rock ‘n roll in the tradition of T. Rex, David Bowie, and the Kinks, flavored with Beatlesque pop, Zeppelin heaviness, and Prince-worthy funkiness.
