Maria Tirabassi’s beloved East Pilsen art gallery moves a few doors down and launches a new creative space. Humility Gallery / Tirabassi Studio will have its official opening on Friday, October 16, 2015 with an inaugural exhibit entitled Friday Traffic. The free event, open to the public, will feature over 50 new electro-expressionist paintings by tirabassi, a selection of works by painter Ariel Estela, and live music by free jazz ensemble Jazz-Phobos. The opening reception runs from 1:00pm until 11:00pm (before and after traffic!) and will offer a selection of wine, cheese, dessert, and coffee. Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance, the first film to chronicle the legendary Joffrey Ballet, is set to premiere in New York City in January 2012 at the Dance On Camera Festival. The feature length documentary takes a look at this groundbreaking cultural treasure, known a s the first truly American dance company. Narrated by Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Mandy Patinkin and directed by Bob Hercules (Bill T. Jones: A Good Man), the film documents how the Joffrey revolutionized American ballet by daringly combining modern dance with traditional ballet, and setting it to pop and rock music scores. Following the North American premiere in late January, the film will embark on a theatrical tour to select cities in the U.S. Released through Hybrid Cinema, the documentary is expected to have a DVD release in the first quarter of 2012 as well.

Jon Reiss, the director of Bomb It, the global graffiti documentary, and his team, have a lot to announce and celebrate this month. Starting as early as today – November 1, 2010 – Bomb It can be seen in tens of millions of cable, satellite, and telco Video On Demand (VOD) homes. In mid-November the Bomb It team will be releasing a free geo-location graffiti and street art application (app) for both iPhone and Android operating systems (tentative release date: 11/22/10). And Bomb It 2, commissioned as a web series exclusively for the digital broadcast network Babelgum, is rolling out new weekly episodes at http://www.babelgum.com/bombit2.
