Angel City Chorale (ACC), the acclaimed Los Angeles choir led by Founder-Artistic Director Sue Fink, will celebrate its 25th birthday this year with an extraordinary spring concert event, One World, Many Voices II, during the first weekend in June. An exhilarating sequel to ACC’s original 2009 production, One World, Many Voices, this concert will embrace the power of diversity that ACC is known for, with vibrant songs representing different cultures from around the world. Now, globally recognized*, Angel City Chorale welcomes dear friends from South Africa to make this special anniversary edition truly memorable; the show will feature a powerful guest appearance from Cape Town’s Amy Foundation youth choir, as well as a new commissioned work from Grammy award-winning composer Christopher Tin. One World, Many Voices II is set to take place at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles over two special evenings on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, 2018. She served the Earth, and she was fun. With great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved friend Rachel Rosenthal [1926-2015]. Based in Los Angeles since the 1950s, Rosenthal was an interdisciplinary art pioneer, performer, teacher, animal-rights activist, and cultural icon. She passed peacefully on Sunday night, May 10, 2015, at 7:00pm, due to complications from congestive heart failure, surrounded by her Rachel Rosenthal Company family. Read the rest of this entry »

Highways Performance Space and Moon Mile Run present the world premiere of Bang Bang, the newest addition to Michael Kearns’ compelling arsenal of theatrical work. Opening on Friday, April 10, 2015, Bang Bang is a character-driven play that examines societal “headline” contentions with intensity and passion. Inspired by the myriad responses to gun violence in America – from Sandy Hook to Ferguson – Bang Bang, directed by Mark Bringelson, weaves a battered, shredded tapestry from individual lives torn apart when a trigger is pulled.The six performances are on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday, April 10 to Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 8:30pm at Highways Performance Space. Bezerk Productions and Highways Performance Space present Melody of Chaos, an evening of free-spirited and psychologically intense visual and performing art, on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The event features the work of Linda Carmella Sibio, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1977 and is known for her cathartic performance and visual art that explores madness and creativity. The evening will start with an original new performance piece by Sibio, “Human-Pig Hybrid.” The work is a nonlinear exploration that juxtaposes cultural notions of “the pig” with mental illness. DakhaBrakha is an award-winning Eastern European ethno-chaos quartet, driven by drums, cello, and vocals from members Marko Halanevych, Olena Tsybulska, Iryna Kovalenko, and Nina Garenetska. For over a decade, C:F has established its unique signature blend of presenting vibrant visual art and music in an immersive cultural experience. These one-night-only events feature top emerging talent from around the globe, with an emphasis on the local talent of Los Angeles. The excitement begins at 4:00pm with a three-hour gallery preview. For the fifth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Saturday, March 15 to Thursday, March 20, 2014. The program includes notable films from France (3/15), Canada (3/16), Senegal (3/17), Belgium (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), and Quebec (3/20). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Saturday’s opening night screening and Thursday’s closing screening are preceded by receptions with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 7:00pm.
