Arts organization Create:Fixate (C:F) presents Constellations on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Lot 613 in Downtown Los Angeles. Beyond C:F’s signature blend of vibrant artwork and music produced by local talent this show captures the mixed-medium spirit that patrons have come to expect from these one-night-only exhibits. The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) presents sound. at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook: MURAL, featuring internationally recognized experimental duo Jim Denley (Australia) and Kim Myhr (Norway) on Sunday, May 5, 2013. MURAL’s site specific work will be inspired by the Overlook – the site itself will dictate the trajectory of the musical structures created in the space. Accompanying MURAL in realizing this new SASSAS commission will be eight Los Angeles area musicians including Matt Barbier, Ted Byrnes, Archie Carey, Claire Chenette, and Daniel Corral. EmazingLights-iHeartRaves, the world’s largest rave retailer, is opening its first Northern California store in Milpitas, kicking off with a grand opening event on Friday, April 5, 2013. The store will feature EmazingLights glove sets, light sticks, poi, orbits, and iHeartRaves dance apparel to inspire creativity at electronic music events, and beyond. The company is also known for championing the dynamic new Gloving dance movement by organizing weekly, monthly and annual Gloving events. For the Milpitas store grand opening event, regular store hours will be extended until 10:00pm; and the festivities will feature a Gloving 101 Workshop (6:00-7:00pm), Gloving teams in attendance from around California, and the first ever Northern California Friday Night Lights Gloving community social event (7:00-10:00pm). Dance label Halocyan Records will take over Medusa Lounge with relentlessly inventive UK producer Untold, with support by John Tejada (LA), Sumsun (FL), and WMX (LA) on Thursday, November 29, 2012 starting at 9:00pm. The evening’s vibe will span from lush and melodic to dark, dubby and grimy. Solid Gold Dancer will provide the visuals for the evening. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend. Brand new electronic dance music label Modular Cowboy announces its inaugural releases, Cheap and Deep Rides Again (featuring remixes by Norman Nodge and Jonsson/Alter) and Mesa Sequences, available on vinyl and digital download exclusively through Hard Wax in late August/early September 2012. The new Modular Cowboy label is spearheaded by techno artist and music industry veteran Jay Ahern (a.k.a. Add Noise, Cheap and Deep, Hauntologists). As a label, Modular Cowboy focuses on deep club tracks, live improvisational works, and music apps that share the label’s creative vision of performance-based sound design and strong visual aesthetics with the end user. In conjunction with its Mesa Sequences EP, Modular Cowboy is also set to release Mesa Sequencer, a ground-breaking companion app for iPad/iPhone, created by musician and programmer Morgan Packard (Anticipate Recordings, Thicket), which radically changes the way audiences consume music – from passive consumers to active producers.

A fresh idea in collaborative fundraising will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at a private home in Los Feliz from early afternoon until late night. Synergy = Music + Sustainability is an innovative, multicultural, experiential event to help raise funds for two dynamic, solution-based nonprofits based in LA: Arts:Earth Partnership (AEP) and NextAid. Music and arts producer, Jonathan Rudnick (theLIFT/Noise Pop Culture Club/Giant Step co-founder) is at the helm bringing the best talent Los Angeles has to offer to this consciousness-raising event. The fundraiser will run from 4:00 to 11:00pm and is taking place at Synergy House, a beautiful Mediterranean/Spanish historical eco-home with detached studio space and a lagoon pool just east of Hollywood off of Franklin Blvd. The exact location will be revealed upon ticket purchase.
