Atlas Obscura presents Red Thread, theatrical exploration of the concepts of chance and chaos with performer and award-winning magician Siegfried Tieber. Using sleight of hand, magic, and illusion, Tieber’s latest creation guides participants through an unlikely journey, blurring the line between the improbable and the impossible. The whole experience may leave Tieber’s guests wondering if their decisions are theirs and of their own free will, or if they are predetermined. Co-written by Jared Kopf, Red Thread will open on Thursday, October 3, 2019, and run through Sunday, November 10, 2019. Each evening will take place at Pskaufman Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles, the subterranean art gallery and event space of award-winning shoe designer and creative visionary Paul Kaufman.

William Shakespeare’s Macbeth gets a daring new production in Downtown LA’s arts district thanks to 134 West. Directed by Alyssa Escalante, this Macbeth, set in a near future desert landscape, will have a limited engagement at Art Share L.A. from Thursday, August 15 through Saturday, September 7, 2019. Produced by Susan Lambert Hatem, Macbeth persists as one of Shakespeare’s most popular and most produced plays because of its deeply human themes. And yet, there remains so much to be discovered in its haunting poetry.

After the sold-out and award-winning success of The Day Shall Declare It in 2015, Wilderness returns to the Los Angeles Arts District to remount its immersive, site-specific theatre experience, opening Tuesday, May 10, 2016 and running through Sunday, June 19, 2016. [UPDATE: The show has been extended thru July 31st by popular demand!] The internationally acclaimed physical theatre piece weaves together dynamic movement with a collage of American labor literature from Tennessee Williams and Studs Terkel, exploring the concept of work in America: what it does for us – and what it does to us. Developed and co-directed by Annie Saunders and Sophie Bortolussi (Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More), The Day Shall Declare It will run for a limited time, to audiences of only thirty people per show. The intimate performances will run six nights a week. The 2016 version sees the addition of “The Paradise,” an exclusive pop-up bar with live music curated by Vagrant Bartenders. The latest missive from Acid Test has the label identifying with its hometown, Los Angeles, more than ever. LA-born Vienna resident and label mainstay Tin Man takes Vienna-born Angeleno resident John Tejada along for a four-track journey which dwells on the activity which defines life in the City of Angels: Driving. Opener “Swiftbox” is a perfect amalgam of Auvinen and Tejada’s respective styles— Tremulous 303 and complex minor key melodicism and deconstructed stabs. “Diamond Lanes” is another muscular acid cut with a subtle, swinging percussion. The Getty Villa Theater Lab will continue its support of experimental interpretations of classical plays with four workshop performances of “intimate devised theatre duet” The Antigone Project February 19-21, 2016. This is the first collaboration between award winning theater-makers Annie Saunders (The Day Shall Declare It) and Becca Wolff (No Static at All, The Last Days of Mary Stuart). It is the second step in a three-part development process for The Antigone Project culminating in a site-specific performance on- and backstage at a historic theatre on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles in spring 2016.

Arts organization Create:Fixate (C:F) presents Serendipity on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Lot 613 in Downtown Los Angeles. For over a decade, C:F has established its unique signature blend of presenting vibrant visual art and music in an immersive cultural experience. These one-night-only events feature top emerging talent from around the globe, with an emphasis on the local talent of Los Angeles. The excitement begins at 4:00pm with a three-hour gallery preview. The main event starts at 7:00pm and closes at 2:00am. Admission is $15.00 before 9:00pm and $20.00 for the remainder of the night.
