LOS ANGELES, CA – Coin & Ghost in association with Vs. Theatre Company present the World premiere of Love Is Another Country, a radical reimagining of Sophocles’s Antigone at Vs. Theatre in Los Angeles from Friday, February 1 through Saturday, March 2, 2019. The third production of Coin & Ghost’s inaugural season, Love Is Another Country is a new play written by the prolific Bay Area theatre artist Lisa Marie Rollins and her first full-length work to be produced in Los Angeles. Directed by Kendall Johnson, the production brings together the ancient tale of Antigone with the deaths of innumerable black men and women at the hands of police. Part ritual, part rage, part collective ask to the audience, the play follows three women of the Chapman family as they navigate living as black women in a country that claims to love them. Highways Performance Space and Moon Mile Run present the world premiere of Bang Bang, the newest addition to Michael Kearns’ compelling arsenal of theatrical work. Opening on Friday, April 10, 2015, Bang Bang is a character-driven play that examines societal “headline” contentions with intensity and passion. Inspired by the myriad responses to gun violence in America – from Sandy Hook to Ferguson – Bang Bang, directed by Mark Bringelson, weaves a battered, shredded tapestry from individual lives torn apart when a trigger is pulled.The six performances are on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday, April 10 to Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 8:30pm at Highways Performance Space. Inspired by the myriad responses to gun violence in America – from Sandy Hook to Ferguson – Bang Bang, directed by Mark Bringelson, weaves a battered, shredded tapestry of characters who face the consequences of what happens when the trigger is pulled. Bootleg Theater will present the world premiere of Circles, the new play by Lisa Harris, opening in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, 2015 and running through Saturday, March 28, 2015. The work, directed by Andrew Heffernan, is an incendiary tango between the anima and animus. Featuring Harris and Blake Adams, Circles grapples with the fundamental mysteries of human connection. Harris is best known as the original producer of the OBIE Award-winning international hit, Mabou Mines DollHouse. New York’s Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announces the Los Angeles premiere of the critically-acclaimed play Slipping, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, which will begin previews Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Lillian Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The five-week limited engagement, which was previously scheduled to open the first weekend of April, will now open on Saturday, April 13, 2013 due to scheduling conflicts and run through Sunday, May 5, 2013. Respected New York-based Rattlestick Playwrights Theater is coming to LA! Its first Los Angeles production, Slipping, will start previews on Thursday, April 4th and run through Sunday, May 5th at Elephant Stage’s Lillian Theatre. Written and directed by Daniel Talbott, Slipping follows the emotional trajectory of 17-year old Eli (Seth Numrich [Golden Boy, War Horse]), after the violent suicide of his beloved father. Seeking a fresh start, he and his mother move from San Francisco to Iowa, where a new relationship with a boy at school exposes Eli again to the possibility of closeness and the danger of being swallowed by it.
