The Persian Arts Society is proud to present The Scarlet Stone, a multidisciplinary and collaborative music/dance/animation work that merges expressive modern aesthetics with Persian traditions at UCLA’s Royce Hall on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Created by Shahrokh Yadegari, in collaboration with Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam, this profound cultural experience is based on the Shahnameh by Ferdowsi and the last work of Siavash Kasrai, Moher-ye Sorkh (The Scarlet Stone). The work uses a contemporary rendition of ancient Persian mythology by Ferdowsi and Kasrai to portray the current struggle of the people of Iran. Read the rest of this entry »More info...

Highways Performance Space presents GUSH, five new contemporary dance works by independent choreographers Jennifer Kayle and Charlotte Adams on Friday, May 29, 2015 and Saturday, May 30, 2015. Kayle probes the realm of mortal passion, and the new era of human impact on the earth. Adams uncovers the body’s anatomy and its undoing, and the ludicrous toiling for success. Five works immerse viewers in the distinctly visceral performance of eleven dancers and two musicians. Following his highly acclaimed album The Predicting Machine and a slew of pop-infused 12-inch singles, LA-based electronic musician John Tejada returns with a new full-length album, Signs Under Test, which drops in the U.S. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 (Monday 2/2 for other parts of the world). The intimate album is a personal auditory experience, which brings listeners in close to details and idiosyncracies on 11 expertly crafted new tracks. With Signs Under Test, the studio wizard digs deeper into his synthesizers, unearthing dreamy tracks that rank among Tejada’s most accomplished work-to-date.
