First Congregational Church of Los Angeles is proud to present Christoph Bull’s organica, a FREE pipe organ concert on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:00pm. organica is an eclectic, colorful, and collaborative way to present the pipe organ to new audiences. A performer, scholar, and UCLA faculty member, Bull has been dubbed “the Tiger Woods of the organ.” He will perform his innovative interpretations of pieces by Philip Glass, Johann Sebastian Bach, Olivier Messiaen, Louis-Claude Daquin, and Maurice Ravel, as well as his own work, on the church’s famous pipe organ, the largest in the world located in a church. Thuy Nga Productions presents global phenomenon Paris By Night 114: 1975-2015 – Toi La Nguoi Viet Nam (I Am Vietnamese) live on stage at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA, with three performances on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5, 2015. The variety show, the 114th production of the Paris By Night franchise, commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon with Vietnamese language music and dance by popular performers from the culture. The 100+ member cast will feature popular singers including Bang Kieu, Mai Thien Van, Minh Tuyet, Nhu Quynh, Ngoc Anh, and Quang Le. Longtime hosts Nguyen Ngoc Ngan and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen will return once again to emcee the four-hour live concerts.

Overtone Industries is currently presenting The Spontaneous Combustion Choir World Tour of Los Angeles, a series of performances by the Spontaneous Combustion Choir for Los Angeles audiences, which started in January and runs into March 2015. In addition to performing, the choir will engage audiences in the collaborative creation of spontaneous music. The Spontaneous Combustion Choir is a catalyst for instant improvised chorale music. Conducted by O-Lan Jones, the group’s singing method builds harmonic chords, weaves melodies, and integrates rhythms, with singers who incorporate basic vowel sounds and no words; resulting in instant, cohesive, a cappella chorale music.

Bezerk Productions and Highways Performance Space present Melody of Chaos, an evening of free-spirited and psychologically intense visual and performing art, on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The event features the work of Linda Carmella Sibio, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1977 and is known for her cathartic performance and visual art that explores madness and creativity. The evening will start with an original new performance piece by Sibio, “Human-Pig Hybrid.” The work is a nonlinear exploration that juxtaposes cultural notions of “the pig” with mental illness. Directed by Steve Ison and John Scofield, Come Together features performances by ten of an estimated 8,000 international Beatles tribute bands keeping the legacy of The Fab Four alive around the world. Come Together was filmed primarily in and around Liverpool, the birthplace of The Beatles – including the world famous Cavern Club where they were discovered – during International Beatleweek, five decades after the band was formed in 1960.
