For the sixth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2015. The program includes notable films from Belgium (3/16), Ivory Coast (3/17), Canada (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), Quebec (3/20), and France (3/21). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Monday’s opening night and Saturday’s closing night screenings are preceded by receptions at 7:00pm. A no host bar will be available Tuesday through Thursday. Friday’s event will feature a free beer tasting.

Fronted by two violin-wielding Jewish brothers, Eric and Olivier Slabiak, Paris-based sextet Les Yeux Noirs (The Black Eyes) offers up an infectious Gypsy-Klezmer-Yiddish meld of raucous music with plenty of jazzy flourishes to boot. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) is proud to present a spectacular evening of interdisciplinary dance and circus theatre, Lux Aeterna Dance Company’s Eponym, premiering in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 30, 2014. The critically acclaimed Los Angeles-based Lux Aeterna, founded and directed by pioneering breakdance daredevil Jacob “Kujo” Lyons, will first perform the beautiful duet, “Catch Me If You Can’t,” followed by the poetic quintet “Eponym” at the TRK event. Creative dancer-choreographer Kujo and Lux are known for an eclectic and powerful movement vocabulary, which fuses various art forms such as breaking, contemporary dance, and circus arts. The award-winning company cultivates beauty from sources that might not otherwise be considered beautiful, in the traditional sense, transforming urban techniques into something transcendent and radiant. Of Kujo, former Los Angeles Times Dance Critic Lewis Segal said, “there is no more-brilliant choreographer in Los Angeles at the moment.”

Famous for playing such characters as Scapin, Alceste, and Philinte at the Comédie Française, Perrin’s performance will lead the audience through Molière’s life and career, linking his plays to his personal life, and presenting short sequences from Molière’s best known creations. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents the 2014/2015 Season Opening Night with The Lost Fingers on Friday, September 19, 2014. The evening, made complete with an opening reception, kicks off the 14th season of TRK’s public performing arts series at the innovative performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. The Quebec-based and award-winning headliner, The Lost Fingers, is known for transforming pop/rock classics into Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz, with a hint of blue grass, taking listeners on a musical journey through reinterpretations from AC/DC to Earth, Wind and Fire; from Deee-Lite to Dolly Parton and Daft Punk. This will be The Lost Fingers’ Los Angeles debut as a quartet, featuring vocalist Valérie Amyot (a finalist on La Voix, Quebec’s version of the popular American TV show, The Voice). The band previously performed at TRK in 2010 as a trio, before Amyot joined the group. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, is pleased to present the Los Angeles premiere of Inconnu à cette adresse (Address Unknown) starring French film and theatre legends Thierry Lhermitte and Patrick Timsit on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, 2014. Inconnu à cette adresse is based on the book Address Unknown, written by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor. The novel was published just before the outbreak of World War 2, written as a series of letters between a Jewish art dealer living in San Francisco and his business partner, who had returned to Germany in 1932. It is credited with exposing, early on, the dangers of Nazism to the American public. The work was adapted for the stage by Michèle Levy-Bram.
