Hybrid Cinema is pleased to announce the DVD release of global graffiti documentary Bomb It 2, by award-winning filmmaker-author Jon Reiss on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 via MVD Entertainment Group. Going where no graffiti doc has gone before, in this follow-up to his explosive street art documentary Bomb It, Reiss travels to Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond, exploring local graffiti scenes and speaking to local artists. Graffiti and street artists featured include Ash Keating, Bon, Great Bates, Husk Mit Navn, Klone, Know Hope, Phibs, Stormie Mills, Vexta, Victor Ash, Xeme, and many others. In keeping with the international approach to the film, Bomb It 2 had premieres on five continents – North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. August 6th saw Bomb It 2’s VOD (Video On Demand) release on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Xbox, Google/YouTube and the Bomb It 2 website. The performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, is pleased to present rock band Vadel on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 7:30pm. Featuring 20 year-old multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Adam Vadel, who live in Paris, the band will make its US debut fresh off of opening dates for Santana in Europe this past summer. With his band, composed of David Junior Assolo (bass), Virgile Carlsson (drums), and Jaykeyboards (keyboards), Vadel delivers powerful and straight forward rock ‘n roll in the tradition of T. The Republic of South Africa’s Department of Arts and Culture will bring its South African Arts Festival 2013 (SAAF), a weekend of South African film and music, to Downtown Los Angeles for the first time, with events on Friday, October 4 through Sunday October 6, 2013. The inaugural SAAF 2013 will showcase seven South African films and seven musical artists representing the diversity of the South African experience at free events over two days. Highlights include Saturday’s outdoor “South African Music Festival” at Grand Performances and a day of South African films screening on Sunday at Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14 and Grand Performances. Friday’s private preview and the Sunday closing night event both combine the screening of a South African feature film with an invitation-only reception. The performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, is pleased to open the 13th season of its public performing arts series on Friday, September 27, 2013 with Laila Biali, the award-winning Canadian jazz pianist, vocalist and songwriter. Biali is known for taking the best of pop, rock, classical and soul, and informing it with her knowledge of jazz as she weaves together her exquisite musical arrangements. The event is the Los Angeles stop of Biali’s North American Tour. This will also be Biali’s Los Angeles debut as a solo performer. Following the success of his recent Kompakt single “Somewhere,” John Tejada returns to his own Palette Recordings imprint with “Anaphora.” After a series of collaborative projects with fellow artists, Tejada distinguishes “Anaphora” as his first solo release on Palette since 2009 and presents a double headliner of his trademark musicality and driving rhythms, delivering a set of two eruptive grooves with a focus that has earned Tejada the respect of both listeners and peers alike. “Anaphora” continues where John’s 2006 smash “The End Of It All” left off, showcasing Tejada’s trademark use of hopeful melodies and emotive sequences. San Francisco-based Jill Tracy‘s haunting “Evil Night Together,” from the album Diabolical Streak, was chosen by Showtime Networks as the requiem to promote the wildly anticipated eighth and final season of Dexter, which stars Michael C. Hall. The teaser, which airs through early July, is aptly titled “The Final Symphony,” and features a montage from the series’ past seven seasons to a soundtrack of Tracy’s chilling music. “It’s like I’m conducting a final symphony,” Dexter says, “Requiem for Demonic Dexter.” The final season of Dexter premieres on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 9:00pm on Showtime.
