The Montalbán, a theatre in Hollywood with a rich history (celebrating three anniversaries in 2019, read more about that below), announced its June screening schedule for its popular Rooftop Movies at The Montalbán. In addition, the venue is also rolling out a new creative curation initiative: weekly themed “Binge Weeks” for the rest of the season. The Getty Villa Theater Lab will continue its support of experimental interpretations of classical plays with four workshop performances of “intimate devised theatre duet” The Antigone Project February 19-21, 2016. This is the first collaboration between award winning theater-makers Annie Saunders (The Day Shall Declare It) and Becca Wolff (No Static at All, The Last Days of Mary Stuart). It is the second step in a three-part development process for The Antigone Project culminating in a site-specific performance on- and backstage at a historic theatre on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles in spring 2016.More info...

The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS) is pleased to announce Blast! [10], the annual SASSAS garden party and fundraiser, on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. With food, beverages, and a silent art auction, Blast! [10] will take place at the private home of the Hillenburg family in San Marino, CA. To celebrate its 10-year milestone, Blast! [10] will feature many of the artists and musicians who have made the event so successful over the years. Shakespeare by the Sea (SBTS) announces its 14th season of bringing free Shakespeare performances to the masses in Southern California, opening with the romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing on June 9, 2011 followed one week later, on June 16, with the opening of the ultimate family drama The Tragedy of King Lear. SBTS performances run for 10 weeks throughout Los Angeles and Orange County – over 40 performances in all – beginning with shows in San Pedro at Point Fermin Park from June 9th through July 2nd. Starting July 6th the troupe hits the road on a tour that will reach a total of 21 public parks in 19 towns – from Pasadena to Laguna Niguel – into August. The production wraps up back in San Pedro for two grand finale performances on August 12 and 13, 2011. All performances are in the evening starting at either 7:00pm or 8:00pm. Audiences are encouraged to gather with friends and family early to dine picnic-style under the stars to make the most of this classic entertainment experience. Admission is always free!
