Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz is pleased to present 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a steampunk-inspired puppet theatre performance based on the classic 19th century Jules Verne science fiction novel by Portland-based Tears of Joy Theatre, on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. The story investigates a wave of mysterious sinkings encountered by the advanced submarine, the Nautilus, commanded by Captain Nemo. The performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, is pleased to present Malika, Queen of the Cats, a puppet theatre performance by Portland-based Tears of Joy Theatre, on Thursday, November 14, 2013. Malika, Queen of Cats is an artful rendition of a classic Palestinian folktale about the power of giving. The performance is full of fun, with humor and sight gags for children and adults alike to enjoy. The hour-long story features a benevolent royal cat, decked out in a jeweled headdress and colorful Arabic garb, that dispenses magic to the worthy. The show will start at 7:30pm and will take place at Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, 10361 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90064 (310.286.0553). Tears of Joy Theatre will perform The Ugliest Duckling, a puppet theatre version of the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale, at Theatre Raymond Kabbaz at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 7:30pm. Set in Australia and starring a cast of colorful creatures in tabletop rod puppet form, The Ugliest Duckling adds a new twist to the beloved story. Written by playwright Marc Dunworth, The Ugliest Duckling features a baby platypus that will never grow into a graceful swan. The story is one of self-acceptance and will be performed by Tears of Joy Theatre, known internationally for bringing amazing puppet theatre to audiences young and old.
