Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents the 2014/2015 Season Opening Night with The Lost Fingers on Friday, September 19, 2014. The evening, made complete with an opening reception, kicks off the 14th season of TRK’s public performing arts series at the innovative performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles. The Quebec-based and award-winning headliner, The Lost Fingers, is known for transforming pop/rock classics into Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz, with a hint of blue grass, taking listeners on a musical journey through reinterpretations from AC/DC to Earth, Wind and Fire; from Deee-Lite to Dolly Parton and Daft Punk. This will be The Lost Fingers’ Los Angeles debut as a quartet, featuring vocalist Valérie Amyot (a finalist on La Voix, Quebec’s version of the popular American TV show, The Voice). The band previously performed at TRK in 2010 as a trio, before Amyot joined the group. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, is pleased to present multi-talented French actress Clémentine Célarié in the U.S. Premiere of Dans la Peau d’un Noir (Black Like Me) on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, 2014. The one-woman show is based on American journalist John Howard Griffin’s 1961 book, Black Like Me, adapted by Célarié into a live performance. Célarié will portray an African-American man in the production that promotes tolerance and humanism. The performance starts at 7:30pm and will take place at Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, 10361 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90064 (310-286-0553). A no host bar will be available. Ticket prices range from $25 to $45 and can be purchased here. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, is pleased to present the Los Angeles premiere of Inconnu à cette adresse (Address Unknown) starring French film and theatre legends Thierry Lhermitte and Patrick Timsit on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, 2014. Inconnu à cette adresse is based on the book Address Unknown, written by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor. The novel was published just before the outbreak of World War 2, written as a series of letters between a Jewish art dealer living in San Francisco and his business partner, who had returned to Germany in 1932. It is credited with exposing, early on, the dangers of Nazism to the American public. The work was adapted for the stage by Michèle Levy-Bram. For the fifth year, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Saturday, March 15 to Thursday, March 20, 2014. The program includes notable films from France (3/15), Canada (3/16), Senegal (3/17), Belgium (3/18), Switzerland (3/19), and Quebec (3/20). All films include subtitles in English and nightly screenings start at 7:30pm. Saturday’s opening night screening and Thursday’s closing screening are preceded by receptions with wine and hors d’oeuvres at 7:00pm.

Deftly moving through musical genres, the Grammy-nominated Perla Batalla will perform a variety of classic and original material, in both English and Spanish, including selections from her award-winning Mestiza song cycle; the Grammy-nominated Leonard Cohen tribute album, Bird on the Wire; as well as her own unique take on the Great American Songbook. As an added treat, Batalla will also feature new collaborative compositions and work-in-progress from her upcoming one-woman show inspired by the work and words of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, Blue House. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, will hold a free screening on Monday, February 10, 2014 of two French short films, both nominated for this year’s Academy Awards. The films are Mr. Hublot, an animated short film about an eccentric man who adopts a robot puppy, and Avant Que De Tout Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything), a live action short film that follows a woman desperate to escape her abusive husband. A question and answer session will follow the films with Alexandre Espigares, one of the directors of Mr. Hublot. Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, in partnership with the Alliance Française of Los Angeles, is pleased to bring Les Lutins du Court-Métrage 2013 to Los Angeles as part of its public performing arts series on Friday, January 31, 2014. A selection of 2013’s best French short films will screen at the event. The evening’s format will be presented in two one-hour long programs with a 15-minute intermission, which will include complimentary wine and cheese. All films in French with English subtitles. Résolument Animés (Resolutely Animated) showcases a collection of animated shorts that highlight the unbridled creativity of France’s new generation of animation directors. The program is intended for an adult audience, though appropriate for ages 15 and up.
